The real problem

Insurance in Nigeria was built for companies. Everybody else got a form.

₦1 in every ₦200

Insurance premiums are about 0.5% of Nigeria's GDP. NAICOM programme launch, Sept 2026

The money that does come in is mostly corporate policies and compulsory cover. If you ride okada or sell tomatoes, you aren't priced out by the premium alone. You're priced out of trust.

  • You earn daily. The bill comes yearly. One big premium doesn't fit money that comes in small.
  • You need somebody who knows somebody. Most policies still travel through an agent or a broker.
  • The payout is a mystery. You send your papers, then you wait, and nobody tells you why.

“I adjusted claims for years. I watched a woman come back six times about one burnt stall. I left so I could build the version she deserved.”

Adaeze Obi, founder Fictional founder, written for this concept

How it works

Four steps. You can do them standing up.

  1. 1

    Get a price

Say what you want to cover. You see the price and what it pays, in plain words. No form, no phone call.

  2. 2

    Pay how you earn

Mobile money, bank transfer or airtime. Daily, weekly or monthly. Miss a day and you get a reminder, not a cancelled policy.

  3. 3
    You're coveredSAMPLE
    Name
    Musa Bello
    Cover
    Okada, up to ₦1m
    Policy
    FD-2026-0418

    Keep your card

Your policy comes as one short card, on your phone and by SMS. It says what's covered and how to claim. That's the whole thing.

  4. 4

    Claim from anywhere

Use the app, WhatsApp or USSD. Tell us what happened and a real person picks it up. You can see where it is at every stage.

What we cover

The things that keep your money coming in.

From ₦100 a weekUp to ₦2m

Phone and device

For a lot of people the phone is the shop, the bank and the office. Screens, water damage and theft are all in.

From ₦150 a weekUp to ₦500k

Basic health

When you're in hospital you aren't earning. We pay a set amount for each night, straight to your wallet, to spend how you need.

From ₦150 a weekUp to 14 nights

Claims, made visible

You should never have to ask, “how far with my claim?”

Every claim shows three stages, the person handling it and what happens next. When we need something from you, we say exactly what, and we say it once.

Our goal, not a result

Most claims resolved in under 48 hours

Fendo is a concept, so there are no real claims yet. This is the standard the product is designed to hold itself to.

Built for low connectivity

No data? No smartphone? You still count.

Plenty of insurance apps quietly assume you have a new phone and a full bundle. Fendo works on the small phone in your pocket, with no data at all.

  • Buy, pay and claim by USSD. Everything important fits in a short menu.
  • A claim starts with one call. Open it from the menu and a person calls you back. No photo? Tell us, and we'll find another way to check.
  • Your policy comes by SMS. Keep it on any phone, or show it to anybody.

This page is built the same way. Under 100 KB in total, with no video and no photos, so it opens on a weak network too.

Working demo. *000# is a made-up code and no money moves.

Concept build

Fendo is a demo, not a real insurer.

Jemirae Agency designed and built this as a concept. Look around and play with it, but nothing here is for sale and no money moves.
